What: The 2020 Band Director Workshop features seven professional development sessions by a distinguished nationally recognized panel of presenters. Hosted by the McCracken Middle School Bands, and sponsored by the National Band Association and the Illinois Grade School Music Association, BDW 2020 is open to directors of levels and experience. Each session will be held live on zoom AND available for streaming after the event. You can join live, watch later, or both!

When: November 3, 2020. Register for BDW 2020 and watch it as many times as you'd like through February 1st. Look for the official schedule and session description in mid-October!

Workshop Faculty

Dr. Linda R. Moorhouse serves as Professor of Music and Associate Director of the School of Music at the University of Illinois. She is a Past President of the prestigious American Bandmasters Association, National Band Association, and Women Band Directors International.

Alfred L. Watkins was Director of Bands at Lassiter High School for 31 years and is co-founder, director and music director of the Cobb Wind Symphony. Bands under Watkins’ direction have performed four times at the Midwest Band Clinic and six times at the Music for All National Concert Band Festival.

Dr. Erica J. Neidlinger is Associate Professor and conductor of the Wind Symphony at DePaul University. She has presented at international conferences including the WASBE conference in Killarney, Ireland and the Midwest Clinic.

Daniel Morrison is the Director of Bands at Ronald Reagan High School in San Antonio, Texas. He is also the Founder of Happy, Not Satisfied™, a motivational platform focused on finding joy in each moment while simultaneously striving for growth and improvement personally, professionally and beyond.

Robert Tyrome Herrings, III is in his eighteenth year of teaching and has been teaching at Artie Henry Middle School in Leander ISD since 2004. His ensembles have performed at the Midwest Clinic, Western International Band Clinic, and was named the TMEA Class CCC Honor Band in 2010, 2014 and 2018

Christopher Bill is best known as the most subscribed brass musician on YouTube. He’s a trombonist, arranger, and marketing consultant based outside of NYC.

Chip De Stefano is Director of Bands at McCracken Middle School in Skokie, IL. His bands have performed at the Midwest Clinic, Illinois Music Education Conference, and has been named Honor Band at the Illinois SuperState Concert Band Festival eight times.

Your Hosts

Chip De Stefano is Director of Bands at McCracken Middle School in Skokie, Illinois. Active nationally as a clinician, guest conductor and adjudicator, he also serves on the Board of Directors of both the National Band Association and the All-Illinois Junior Band. His bands have made multiple appearances at several state and national events including the Midwest Clinic, CBDNA North-Central Conference, NAFME North-Central Conference, Illinois Music Education Conference and Illinois SuperState Concert Band Festival.

Cesar Mendoza has been Associate Director of Bands at McCracken Middle School in Skokie, Illinois since 2018. A graduate of the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign he studied with world-renowned trombonist, Jim Pugh. Mr. Mendoza maintains an active private lesson studio and clinician schedule in the Chicagoland area.
